About Us & Our Platform
Emporia is a venture-backed, self-serve B2B research platform that’s built on nearly one billion professional firmographic and demographic records. We use AI and big data extensively to match the right candidates with research opportunities that they are compensated for, benefiting everyone that is involved. Our platform is the centerpiece for any good B2B market research strategy, not only powering the data but also giving our customers all the tools they need to execute on their research.
We are regarded as a highly innovative, challenger brand in the research technology space, disrupting what was traditionally thought possible with B2B market research, which has historically been very manual and human-driven. Our ultimate goal is to democratize this technology for everyone while staying at the bleeding edge of innovation.
B2B market research is key to the development and improvement of all products and services out in the world. Our customers use Emporia to collect on-demand insights for new products, service development, sales enablement, competitive analysis and more. Companies like Amazon, Meta and Google rely on Emporia to collect insights to make critical strategic decisions to improve their own products and services.
The Role
You will build a high-leverage finance function that marries rigorous accounting discipline with an operator’s instinct for efficiency. Day to day, you’ll:
- Streamline Accounts Receivable – automate invoicing, tighten collections, and reconcile cash in near-real time.
- Overhaul Accounts Payable & Procurement – create a vendor-onboarding playbook, implement approval workflows, and negotiate payment terms that protect cash.
- Own Client Vendor Onboarding – partner with sales and RevOps to navigate customer procurement portals so projects start (and bill) without delay.
- Lead Monthly Close & Reporting – drive an accurate monthly close; work with our accountants to prepare GAAP-ready statements; and surface insights for the exec team and board.
- Forecast & Budget – build rolling quarterly cash-flow models and annual budgets with scenario planning tied to pipeline data.
- Institutionalize Controls & Documentation – codify policies, write SOPs, and deploy dashboards that make compliance and audit readiness effortless.
- Ensure Compliance with Tax & Procurement Documentation – collect, track, and organize vendor tax forms (like W-9s and W-8s) and other required documentation to ensure smooth payments and audit readiness.
You’ll report to our operations lead, collaborate daily with Sales Ops and Engineering, and have a clear path to build out a broader Finance & Operations team.
